• [Improvement]: Bump build to Go 1.23.0. Note this is required for the latest

Go extended library versions.

• [Improvement]: revert T383838go.mod to Go 1.20 to [resolve an issue around Go

module version upgrades](https://github.com/mdlayher/socket/issues/13).

**This is the first release of package socket that only supports Go 1.21+.

Users on older versions of Go must use v0.4.1.**

• [New API]: add T383838socket.Conn wrappers for various T383838Getsockopt and

T383838Setsockopt system calls.

• [Bug Fix] commit:

ensure T383838socket.Conn can be used with non-socket file descriptors by handling

T383838ENOTSOCK in the constructor.

numerous T383838socket.Conn methods now support context cancelation. Future

releases will continue adding support as needed.

• T383838Connect, T383838Recvfrom, T383838Recvmsg, T383838Sendmsg, and T383838Sendto methods now accept

a context.

• T383838Sendto parameter order was also fixed to match the underlying syscall.

T383838socket.Conn has new T383838Pidfd* methods for wrapping the T383838pidfd_*(2) family of

system calls.

• [New API] commit:

T383838socket.Conn has new T383838IoctlKCM* methods for wrapping T383838ioctl(2) for T383838AF_KCM

operations.

• [New API] commit:

T383838socket.Conn has a new T383838SetsockoptPacketMreq method for wrapping

T383838setsockopt(2) for T383838AF_PACKET socket options.

• [New API] commit:

T383838socket.FileConn can be used to create a T383838socket.Conn from an existing

T383838os.File, which may be provided by systemd socket activation or another

external mechanism.

• [API change] commit:

T383838socket.Conn.Connect now returns the T383838unix.Sockaddr value provided by

T383838getpeername(2), since we have to invoke that system call anyway to verify

that a connection to a remote peer was successfully established.

• [Bug Fix] commit:

check the correct error from T383838unix.GetsockoptInt in the T383838socket.Conn.Connect

method. Thanks @vcabbage!

• [Bug Fix]: T383838socket.Conn.Connect now properly checks the T383838SO_ERROR socket

option value after calling T383838connect(2) to verify whether or not a connection

could successfully be established. This means that T383838Connect should now report

an error for an T383838AF_INET TCP connection refused or T383838AF_VSOCK connection

reset by peer.

• [New API]: add T383838socket.Conn.Getpeername for use in T383838Connect, but also for

use by external callers.

• [New API]: T383838socket.Conn now has T383838CloseRead, T383838CloseWrite, and T383838Shutdown

methods.

• [Improvement]: internal rework to more robustly handle various errors.

• Initial unstable release. Most functionality has been developed and ported

from package netlink.
